About EWS-WWF

Emirates Wildlife Society (EWS) is a leading national UAE environmental non governmental organization (NGO), established in February 2001. EWS works at the federal level and aims to promote the conservation of nature and sustainable lifestyles in the UAE.

EWS works in association with one of the world's largest and most experienced independent conservation groups, WWF. This partnership is known as EWS-WWF.

WWF, Worldwide Fund for Nature, has over five million supporters, and a global network active in over 100 countries. WWF's mission is to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature by: conserving the world's biological diversity; ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable; promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.

The EWS-WWF has been working for nature conservation in the UAE over the past seven years. The achievements of EWS-WWF reflect the strong commitment of governments, NGOs, corporations, research and educational institutions and individuals to conserve the natural heritage of our home, the UAE.

EWS-WWF operations are consolidated into six strategic initiatives, which have been based on a thorough analysis of the environmental arena. Its strategic areas of operation include natural habitats, natural resources, the ecological footprint, species, climate change and the WWF global environmental agenda. EWS-WWF's work is implemented through conservation, education, awareness as well as policy advising and research.

Established under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, EWS-WWF is governed by a board of directors.
